As the 2024 presidential election approaches, President Joe Biden, who is seeking a second term, delivered his State of the Union address Thursday night, asserting that the State of the Union is “strong and getting stronger.”
Shortly after speaking, Mr. Biden began advocating for the United States to continue supporting Ukraine. He said Eastern European countries could deter Russian President Vladimir Putin if the United States supplies weapons to Ukraine.
Biden attempted to mention Laken Riley, the 22-year-old woman who was murdered last month, but the president appeared to get her first name wrong, calling her “Lincoln” instead of Laken. “Lincoln Riley was an innocent young woman killed by an illegal alien,” Biden said. He said his heart breaks for Riley’s girlfriend’s parents. “I myself have experienced the loss of a child, so I completely understand.”
The president called for an increase in the federal minimum wage.According to the US Ministry of Labor“The federal minimum wage for eligible non-exempt employees is $7.25 per hour.”
During Biden’s speech, former President Donald Trump shared his thoughts on Truth Social: post“He seems very angry when he’s talking, which is characteristic of someone who knows he’s “losing.”” Anger and screaming will not help bring our country back together! ” Elsewhere postPresident Trump yelled, “He’s so angry and crazy!”
“That was the most disastrous State of the Union address I’ve ever witnessed in my 52 years on this earth,” said Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah. tweeted.
