Weekend Watch: Would you buy a used car from this man?

“All I need is people. If you get people together, you can never go wrong,” said traveling used car salesman Michael Bennett early on. “Slasher” A 2004 documentary about him by John Landis.

Landis’ film depicts Bennett going to the sexier side of Memphis. There, he dons a cheap tuxedo and, fueled by beer, cigarettes, and visits to a local strip club, holds court over a multi-day “slasher sale” where he engages customers with outrageous content. Discounts (one car sold for $88) and unpleasant stunts.

Along the way, he hilariously corroborates every stereotype you might have about used car salesmen, while probably inventing a few new ones.
