Schultz allegedly wrote a letter to his co-conspirator saying, “I will continue to send you a large amount of information.” At one point, Schultz said he “wished he was ‘Jason Bourne,'” according to the Justice Department report.

The ministry said the two sides discussed the recent arrests of two navy sailors, Zhao Wenheng and Wei Jinchao, who were accused of providing classified military information to Chinese intelligence agencies. In response, Schultz’s co-conspirators instructed the soldiers to be careful.

“Mr. Schultz, a member of the U.S. Army, is charged with conspiracy to obtain and provide national defense information to individuals abroad,” said Assistant Attorney General Matthew G.
