A Maryland jury this week convicted a woman of murdering and dismembering her boyfriend and dumping his body in various locations.

Michelina Desiree Goodwin, 46, of Great Mills, is charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and unauthorized disposal of a human body in the death of 50-year-old James Volodymyr Narvorchik. was convicted of the crime. Prosecutors announced Thursday that the trial would last one day.

Narborczyk’s family first reported him missing on Dec. 21, 2022, and said they last saw him on Dec. 7, 2022, according to the St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.

A few weeks later, the case later evolved into a murder investigation, and Goodwin was identified as a suspect. When she was questioned by investigators in January 2023, she stated that she had gotten into an argument with Narborczyk at her home and that she accidentally shot him.

She later admitted to dismembering the bodies and disposing of the remains in remote areas in St. Mary’s and Charles counties, authorities said.

“This horrific crime shocked the community and caused unimaginable pain to the victim’s family,” State Attorney Jami Sterling said in a statement. “For eight days, the victim’s family and the jury heard the graphic circumstances surrounding the victim’s final moments and tragic post-mortem dismemberment. The defendant’s courageous decision ensured that the family received a proper burial. I can no longer do that.”

Goodwin could be sentenced to up to 61 years in prison. She is being held without bail pending a sentencing hearing.
