Florida Democrat: Marginalized communities won’t ‘survive’ a second Trump term

Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) argued that communities of color are “very important” in supporting President Biden’s re-election in November, saying marginalized communities are the next best choice for former President Trump. He said that he believed that he would not be able to survive his term in office.

Mr. Frost joined MSNBC’s Katie Huang to discuss Mr. Biden’s recent endorsements. Three minority-centered political groups have endorsed Biden’s campaign for a second term: Latino Victory Fund, AAPI Victory Fund, and Collective PAC.

“The important thing is to get recognition from the organization and that’s one thing.” It’s another matter to receive the support of three major organizations that claim to commit $30 million to ensure that ” Frost said.

Three major political action committees are trying to rally communities of color ahead of this year’s elections. Minority voters contributed to Biden’s victory over Trump in 2020, and they will play a key role in this year’s election, which is expected to be a close one this fall.

Frost said the support and donations “first of all speak to what’s at stake in this election, especially our AAPI community, our Black community, our Latino communities, and our people of color, across this region. “It shows what’s at stake in this election for marginalized communities,” he said. There are many people in this country who will not survive another term of Donald Trump. ”

“That’s not an exaggeration,” Frost continued. “And I think we’ll see once again what’s going to happen this November.”

Frost, 27, won the 2022 Orlando election and became the first Gen Z member to serve in Congress. Biden, 81, has come under increasing criticism due to questions about his age and ability to lead the country.

The Biden campaign released an ad on Saturday touting his age as an asset. In the video, Biden said he was “not a young man.” It’s no secret. Still, he said, he “understands how to get things done for the American people.”

Frost argued that Biden’s consideration of age is the right strategy. Young voters “want credibility” and don’t want candidates who “ignore issues.”

Frost acknowledged that while Biden’s age is a big concern for some voters, it shouldn’t be the biggest concern.

“At the end of the day, people at the polls are less likely to think about age and more likely to think about who will protect my right to choose, who will protect abortion, and who will protect abortion.” “I’m going to fight to end gun violence,” he said. “And clearly, the choice is clear between Donald Trump and Joe Biden as to who does that.”
