Ty Cobb, who served as White House Counsel under former President Trump, said the “facts in his multiple lawsuits are terrible” and that it was probably “very difficult” for him to navigate the various battles. insisted.
Trump, the likely Republican nominee for November’s election, has a tangled legal troubles that are already playing out in courts across the country. The former president has pleaded not guilty to 91 criminal charges in four state and federal indictments and is involved in more than six civil lawsuits.
“He’s got so many things going on that he probably can’t give you a certain amount of focus, the degree of focus that you know he wants. He’s had so many different lawyers and so many different things. “We have to rely on many different teams of lawyers, some of whom are very talented and others who are less prominent.” Cobb told MSNBC’s Alex Witt.
Mr. Cobb argued that Mr. Trump was “extremely dependent” on his lawyers, which turned out to be a problem.
“For one thing, the facts are horrific. His conduct is reprehensible and he is the subject of 91 felonies, four separate indictments, and multiple civil lawsuits. We lost close to a dollar,” Cobb said. “So this is not a smooth-gliding ship.”
Cobb has previously claimed that Trump is “the greatest threat to democracy we’ve ever seen.” He criticized Trump’s legal team for trying to delay some cases until after the election.
In an interview Saturday, Cobb argued that Trump would have time to delay the case and appeal if he were re-elected in the fall, but said he would “go to jail” if he lost to President Biden.
