The New England Patriots reportedly agreed to trade quarterback Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, as the quarterback shakeup continues across the NFL.

ESPN reported that the two sides finalized the trade on Sunday, which included negotiations for a sixth-round pick. The deal won’t become official until the new league season begins Wednesday and Jones passes a medical exam.

New England selected Jones as their quarterback of the future with the 15th overall pick in the 2021 draft. He beat out Cam Newton in training camp to earn the starting spot in his rookie season.

The former University of Alabama standout led the Patriots to the playoffs in his rookie year and finished second in the 2021 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year voting. He had 3,801 passing yards and 22 touchdown passes. He became the first Patriots quarterback to lead the team to the postseason since Tom Brady left.
