Elle King has broken her silence after receiving backlash for her performance at Dolly Parton’s memorial performance in January, in which she admitted to drinking.
King posted a video of himself running up the stairs at London’s O2 Arena in his workout clothes, with the text above it.
“To everyone who sends me love because I’m human and I’ve already spoken to Dolly…I love you,” read the top sentence.
A second person said: “To everyone who told me to kill myself, I love you too.”

King also added the WWDD hashtag in the caption, saying, “Oh no, it showed my humanity,” possibly a reference to “What Would Dory Do?”
The “Ex and O’s” singer sparked outrage when she performed at the Grand Ole Opry as part of Parton’s birthday celebrations in January, fumbling with lyrics and cursing at the audience.
“I’ll just say one more thing, I’ll say one more thing: Hello, my name is Elle King, and I’m devastated,” King said in a video shared on TikTok. When the band suggested they play their own songs, King retorted, “I can hardly play anyone else’s songs. Let’s see if you can play mine.”

The Grand Ole Opry issued an apology to X, saying, “We deeply regret and apologize for the language used during last night’s second Opry performance.”
Parton addressed the issue in an interview with Extra magazine last month, saying, “Elle is a really great artist. She’s a great girl, but she’s been going through a lot of hard things lately.”
He added: “She just had a little too much to drink, so let’s forgive her, forget it and move on, because she felt worse than anyone else.”

In an interview with E! Parton said she reached out to King, calling him a “doll.”
“I called her and said, ‘You know, there’s a lot of F-words out there. Why don’t you just use the right one? Sorry, friend, forget it,'” Parton recalled.
King postponed a series of performances in the wake of the incident and returned to the stage earlier this month at the Extra Innings Festival in Tempe, Arizona.
