American woman raped, murdered on yacht in Caribbean crime

An American woman was raped by an escaped convict while sailing on a yacht in the Caribbean, police said. A woman from Virginia and her husband are believed to have died after being thrown overboard by fugitives last month.

This was announced by a spokesperson for the Royal Grenada Police Force. daily mail“Atiba Stanislaus has been charged by the Grenada Police with one count of rape against Kathy Blundell.”

Stanislaus, 25, was charged with two counts of capital murder in the deaths of Blundell and Ralph Hendry, along with Ron Mitchell, 30, and Trevon Robertson, 23. The three murder suspects were also charged with escape from lawful custody, burglary, robbery, and two counts of kidnapping.

As Blaze News previously reported, Blundell and Hendry were on a “dream” cruise in the Caribbean on a yacht.

The couple, who have been married for 27 years, had their yacht moored in St. George’s, the capital of Grenada.

The American couple’s yacht, named Simplicity, was discovered on February 21 by authorities in neighboring Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

There was no sign of Blundell or Hendry. But law enforcement officials said there were “signs of violence” at the crime scene on the yacht.

“The entire interior and deck of the ship was ransacked,” the Coast Guard commander reportedly wrote in an internal memo.

Police said the couple’s belongings were scattered throughout the ship and bloodstains were found throughout the ship.

Investigators believe the three murder suspects stole the yacht the day after they escaped from a Grenada prison on February 18th.

Grenada Police Commissioner Don McKenzie told a news conference that the escaped inmates had “destroyed the crew” of the hijacked yacht while it was sailing between Grenada and St. Vincent.

Blundell and Hendry’s bodies have not yet been found.

The couple are experienced boaters and have been sailing for over 10 years.

Blundell’s son, Nick Brough, said: WRC TV“They were always very careful to stay safe. Safety was their number one priority wherever they went and whatever they did. So this unfortunate accident was a huge loss for them. I think it just happened out of the blue.”

“This is completely unexpected,” Bro added. “And we thought about that and tried to understand a senseless act of violence against two people who were just living in their home, because essentially Simplicity was their home. had no home…and that safety and security was suddenly taken away, [having] They attacked…where they live, it’s just unimaginable. ”

The suspects were initially arrested on suspicion of robbery. According to Grenada Police, Mitchell was also charged with one count of rape, three counts of attempted rape, and two counts of indecent assault and assault.

The three suspects are scheduled to appear in court on March 27th.
