Missouri mom wins in lottery after playing same numbers for 40 years

An anonymous woman won a Missouri Lottery prize after hitting the same numbers she’s been trying her luck with for 40 years.

The lucky winner from Pulaski County used exactly nine numbers to match nine ticket slots, according to a Missouri Lottery news release.

According to the statement, the winner’s son checked the ticket at a retail store and was shocked when the clerk told him he could not cash it in.

“She said, ‘Give me a call,'” the winner told the Missouri Lottery, recounting his son’s interaction with the clerk.

“So he handed her his phone and she took a picture of it and said, ‘This is your mom’s win, so we can’t pay her!'” That’s what he told lottery officials, explaining why he couldn’t pay. Cash out at the store.

Her son called her as soon as he left the store and couldn’t resist the news that she was now $80,000 richer.

The winner told lottery officials that he decided to use the proceeds to buy a new car.

Lottery officials said the winning ticket was purchased at the LMC convenience store located at 1302 Historic 66 West in Waynesville, Missouri.

The nine Club Keno numbers that matched the winning ticket were part of the Missouri Lottery’s “9 Spot” game.

The base prize is $30,000, but the winner chose to add a “bullseye,” increasing the prize to $80,000, the Missouri Lottery reported.
