CJ Gardner-Johnson agrees to returns to Eagles, despite previously ripping ‘obnoxious’ fans: reports

CJ Gardner Johnson was in the Motor City for a short time. On Tuesday, the defensive back agreed to terms on a three-year contract to return to the Philadelphia Eagles, according to multiple reports.

The value of this contract is estimated to be up to $33 million. A Universal Sports representative confirmed the deal to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Gardner-Johnson’s only season with the Detroit Lions was plagued by injuries, with the safety appearing in just three games. He spent the first three years of his NFL career with the New Orleans Saints before joining the Eagles in 2022.

Gardner Johnson’s six interceptions in 2022 tied for the most in the league. His strong performance was a key part of the Eagles’ run to the Super Bowl that season.

Although his 2022 campaign was largely considered a success, Gardner-Johnson did not seem to be enjoying his time in the City of Brotherly Love.

Last July, while streaming while playing a video game, Gardner-Johnson said a fan paid him $5 to answer questions about his favorite and least favorite Philadelphia-related memory. .

“Okay, well–” Gardner-Johnson began. “What I hate the most are people. They are so unpleasant. I can’t stand them.”

He also recalled when his car was stolen in January 2023, just after the Eagles beat the New York Giants in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Gardner-Johnson injured his pectoral muscle last season against the Seattle Seahawks, but ultimately returned in Week 17.
