A story writer for a major video game company previously admitted that he intentionally doesn’t want white people on his production team because they commit microaggressions and prefer to be around people who are “like” them.

according to herself WebsiteLalonders is working on a video game version of Black Panther, the Marvel movie about a particularly black superhero living in an ethnic nation.
As it turns out, Mr. Laronders allegedly made a series of comments about whether white people might experience racism and even said he did not want to work with white people.
During video conferencing in 2021 Color Expo Game Developera YouTube page dedicated to honoring game developers based on skin color, Lalonders commented on the team she worked with on another project.
“But who is your team?” Lalonders reads along with a slideshow. “We’re all people of color. There’s no white people on our team. We did that because we wanted to create a safe environment,” she explained.
“I know the best way to make the environment safer is to be around people who look like me. I’m not saying that white people in the industry are creating a dangerous environment. That’s not what I’m saying. That’s not what I’m saying.” What I’m saying is that sometimes it’s difficult to work with white people. The game designer was talking about ValiDate: Struggling singles in your area, a video game described as a “romance visual novel and dating simulator.” The game features a character who is “a 28-year-old mother of two and human resources specialist who is dating, being a parent, and trying to ignore her boyfriend’s enormous baggage.”
In the same video, Lalonders claimed that she is a “Black, non-binary woman” and is not taken seriously in the industry. And she said that if her dating game had been made by a white man, it would have been distributed wildly.
“Is it because I’m black? Maybe it is, but you know what I mean? It’s kind of unfortunate that people look at me, and they just say, ‘What we don’t accept is She’s like, “Whatever.” She’s serious. But if a white person made her ValiDate, there would be an uproar everywhere. ”
Now about her Private X accountIn early March 2024, the Lalonders allegedly went on a rant about gamers being racist and claimed that white people cannot experience racism.

One of several other statements attributed to Mr. Lalonders was simply, “If you think you can be racist against white people, you are literally racist. ” I just said. [racist]. ”
Both Lalonders and Electronic Arts were asked to comment on their views on hiring practices, Lalonders’ statements, and whether those statements factored into the production of the new Black Panther game.
