Mark Hamill’s Controversial Post Sparks Backlash
Mark Hamill, the actor famous for his role as a sci-fi hero, is under fire after posting a provocative image of President Donald Trump lying in a grave on the social media platform Blue Sky.
In his post, he expressed hope that Trump would be “held accountable for unprecedented corruption” and face “impeachment, conviction, and humiliation” for various crimes. Hamill remarked, “It takes him long enough to realize that he’s going to be forever humiliated in the history books,” and included the hashtag #DonTheCon.
The sentiment was perceived by many as a wish for the President’s demise, leading to an avalanche of criticism online. One reaction from a White House Rapid Response Team stated, “This kind of rhetoric is exactly what led to three assassination attempts on our president in two years.”
Users on social media had varied responses. Some deemed him a “sick man,” attributing his actions to a misguided attempt to incite violence against the president. Others took to jab at Hamill’s own career, suggesting he had become irrelevant, comparing Trump’s image in the post to his stagnant acting trajectory.
Another critic lamented the transformation of a once-beloved movie hero into someone perceived as bitter. This controversy arises while tensions remain high in Washington, D.C., following recent threats on the president’s safety.
In lighter news, Hamill recently participated in a promotional video for the Presidential Library in Chicago alongside former President Barack Obama, which led to humorous remarks about its resemblance to the Death Star from Star Wars.
