Pitcher Dylan Cease’s name has been associated with trade rumors for quite some time.

On Wednesday, ESPN reported that the long-awaited trade for the right-handed pitcher had been completed.

Schiess, who has spent his entire major league career with the Chicago White Sox, is expected to join the San Diego Padres.

According to multiple reports, the White Sox are planning to acquire several prospects in exchange for the release of their contracts. Cease, 28, had a somewhat disappointing season in 2023, finishing with a 4.58 ERA after receiving the second-most Cy Young Award votes in the AL in 2022.
