Residents of California neighborhood terrified by prowler with axe and knife ringing doorbells in the middle of the night

A group of neighbors in California were terrorized by a strange man wandering around with an ax and a knife, ringing their doorbell.

The masked man was seen on surveillance video of a couple outside their home in San Diego’s Hillcrest neighborhood.

“In the morning, we saw a man with an ax walking around the property. The next night, the doorbell rang and we woke up. ‘What the hell is going on?’ I thought, ‘That’s when we saw the camera,” said a resident named Ben. Go to KFMB-TV.

The 3 a.m. video showed a man with an ax ringing the doorbell, knocking on the door and shaking the door handle to see if it was open.

“Then he kind of sat down and started opening and closing the knife on the steps right outside our house,” Ben said.

The next morning they called the police, who told them to call right away next time.

Residents began posting doorbell and surveillance footage on social media and noticed the same man wandering around their homes on Friday and Saturday nights.

“I saw the images and the Ring camera video, and it was very disturbing and scary,” said Sophie, another Mission Hills resident.
