Valerie Bertinelli is feeling the love.
The Food Network alum, 63, revealed she has started a romance with a “special” man more than a year after her divorce from Tom Vitale was finalized.
“I met a guy and I’m so grateful to him,” she said. told USA Today. “This is unlike any other relationship I’ve ever had with a man.”
“I don’t want to say too much, but I didn’t expect it, so I feel really happy and lucky to have met him.”
“He wasn’t on my radar. I was going to die with six cats and a dog, and I was incredibly happy to have done it. So this came out of left field. “He’s a very special person,” she added, without revealing her new boyfriend’s name.
The “Hot in Cleveland” alum said the romance came at the perfect time in her life.
“I want both women and men to understand that this is their job.” [on yourself] That could lead to meeting someone like the person I’m lucky enough to meet now,” she said.
“Three years ago, four years ago, last year, this wouldn’t have happened — it wouldn’t have happened. And I’m incredibly lucky to have met him and made that connection. I feel that way.”
Bertinelli finalized his divorce from Vitale in November 2022.
The “One Day at a Time” alum agreed to pay her ex-husband $2.2 million as part of divorce proceedings, Page Six reported that same year. This huge amount is in addition to the $500,000 she already sent him in May 2022.

Mr. Bertinelli met Mr. Vitale, a financial planner, entrepreneur, and CEO of e-commerce company Viebow, in 2004, and they became engaged in March 2010.
The two got married in January 2011. After 10 years of dating, the “Valerie’s Home Cooking” host filed for legal divorce from Vitale in November 2021.
