UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman wakes up and responsive in the hospital after saving his parents from a house fire in Ohio earlier this week.
Coleman’s daughter Mackenzie Former fighter posts video on Instagram There, she saw her daughters for the first time and expressed gratitude that she and her parents were alive.
“I’m the happiest man in the world!” Coleman, 59, shouted at the hospital.
“I swear to God, I’m so lucky. I can’t believe my parents are alive! I had to make a decision and left the room and went to the door, but it was already bad. I can’t breathe. I was outside and went back to get it and I can’t believe it!”
He was lamenting that he couldn’t find his dog, Hummer, who died in the fire.
“God is good. Miracles do happen,” Mackenzie Coleman wrote in the caption of an Instagram video.
“Our father is breathing on his own. He still has a long way to go, but we are so grateful. We would like to sincerely thank everyone for your love and support.”
Fremont, Ohio firefighters responded to a call of a fire around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
The fire was said to have started in the kitchen and the house was “completely gutted.”
Coleman’s daughter Morgan posted on Instagram that her father was “fighting for his life after this heroic act” that saved the lives of his parents.
Coleman’s MMA career spanned from 1996 to 2010, when he defeated Dan Severn via neck crank submission at UFC 12 to become the inaugural UFC Heavyweight Champion.
