Ohio officials said Thursday’s severe weather turned deadly in the state, with at least two people confirmed dead in the Buckeye State as of Friday morning.

Logan County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Joe Corpus confirmed the death to The Associated Press and said the deadly storm left significant property damage in Bellefontaine, Lakeview, Midway, Orchard Island and Russell’s Point. Ta. At least five tornado sightings have been reported in northern Ohio. FOX Weather reported.

Logan County spokeswoman Sheri Timmers said the suspected tornado damaged multiple buildings in the Indian Lake area and left multiple residents with various injuries.

“As far as we know, we have a number of injured people. We don’t know the extent of the injuries,” Timmers said. “The RV park was affected.”

Nearly 20,000 power outages were reported across Ohio, according to PowerOutage.us.

In Huron County, emergency management officials warned of a “large and extremely dangerous tornado” near Plymouth.

As what appeared to be a tornado tore through Ohio, another suspected twister touched down about 70 miles to the west in Winchester, Indiana. Winchester is a town of 4,700 people located approximately 110 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

Indiana State Police announced Friday that there were “numerous people with serious injuries.”

“There were so many seriously injured people, we don’t know how many. We don’t know where they are. We don’t know what the wounds are,” Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter told reporters. . It’s past midnight. “There’s still a lot we don’t know.”

Randolph County Sheriff Art Moisner told FOX59/CBS4 that the storm damaged a Walmart store and Taco Bell in Winchester.

“I’m upset. I’m overwhelmed,” Winchester Mayor Bob McCoy said in a statement to The Associated Press. “I heard what sounded like a train, and then I started hearing sirens. I’ve never heard that sound before and I never want to hear it again.”

Emergency management officials in Delaware County, west of Winchester, said about half of the buildings in the small town of Selma were damaged by the potential tornado.

“We are relieved to report that so far only minor injuries have been reported and one person was transported to the hospital for treatment,” the Delaware County Emergency Management Agency said in a news release.

The storm also damaged homes and trailers in Hanover and Rum.
