Howard Dean: Trump is candidate of ‘gazillionaire class’

Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said in an interview late Thursday that former President Trump is a “billionaire class” candidate.

“I don’t think there’s a limit to the amount of money you can spend in this race. Trump has gotten every billionaire in the country, but apparently every time Trump walks around, he’s breathing harder. That’s their candidate. Billionaire class,” Howard said in an interview with anchor Abby Phillippe on CNN’s “Newsnight.”

“And Biden is a worker who is raising a lot of money on the web from small donations,” Dean added. “And that’s how it goes.”

The Biden campaign recently announced it raised $10 million in the 24 hours following the president’s latest State of the Union address. This also followed news that February was the best campaign grassroots fundraising month ever.

“We are grateful to our grassroots supporters who are more motivated than ever to reelect President Biden and Vice President Harris,” Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement at the time. “The President’s State of the Union address reminded us that many of our supporters are fighting for them, and that this election is at stake for our freedoms, rights, and democracy.”

“Our condolences go out to another man and his unstable and poor campaign,” she added. She said, “It turns out that attacking women’s rights, cutting taxes for the wealthy, and attacking American democracy are not necessarily winning messages.”

Dean said in an interview with CNN that he thinks Robert Kennedy Jr. “could do some damage to the conspiracy theorists and they would vote for Trump.”

“So I just hope he doesn’t run away for himself and this family.”

Dean also said he believes Biden would win Michigan if the presidential election were held today, despite a recent Quinnipiac University poll showing Trump with a 3-point lead in the Wolverine State.

“Donald Trump is a disaster for Michigan, so I think it’s clear that Biden will win,” Dean said.
