House Speaker Mike Johnson told Fox News on Friday that the White House “doesn’t have a say in when the impeachment inquiry into President Biden ends,” after receiving a letter this morning from White House lawyers claiming it was “done.” He said he could not “take hold of it.”
“It’s clearly time to move on, Mr. Speaker,” White House Counsel Ed Siskel said in a message to the Louisiana Republican.
“This impeachment is over,” Siskel declared. “The American people have too much important work to do to continue wasting their time on this travesty.”
But Johnson told Fox News’ Chad Pergrum on Friday at the Capitol that “they don’t have the power to make the decision,” adding, “Once the investigation is complete, we’re going to deliberate on it.” .

Mr Johnson added: “The Constitution allows the process to proceed as expected. The competent committee has fulfilled its duty.” “They did an extraordinary job. They uncovered some alarming information.”
“The House majority should work with the president on the economy, national security, and other important priorities on behalf of the American people, and should not waste time on political stunts like this,” Siskel said in the letter. It should not continue.”

“The House majority has reportedly collected more than 100,000 pages of records, interviewed dozens of witnesses, and held multiple hearings, but there is no evidence that the president did anything wrong. “There is nothing,” Siskel said, noting that “Hunter Biden testified.” “He never involved his father in any of his business dealings,” and “several witnesses testified that debunked his claims about President Biden’s handling of classified documents.”
“Instead of acknowledging the truth that the president did nothing wrong, the majority is wasting even more time on abusive tactics such as attempting to re-examine witnesses who have already testified. “Maybe they’re hoping the facts will be different the second time around,” Siskel continued. . “This is just the latest abusive tactic in this investigation, targeting the president’s children, grandchildren, siblings, and in-laws for no reason. From medical visits to birthday gifts, civilian ‘s personal records. Enough is enough.’ That’s enough. ”
