South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) posted a video Thursday promoting South Dakota businesses, despite facing criticism and lawsuits over previous videos.
noem I posted a video on X, previously promoted Fit My Feet, a company that creates custom insoles for tennis shoes and cowboy boots, on Twitter. “Having custom insoles can work wonders,” she wrote online.
“They made me a complete running insert and a cowboy boot insert. I’m going to be perfect, now I’m going to look like a bionic woman,” she said in the video. Ta.
The governor asked employees where they have stores across South Dakota. After they listed different locations, Noem responded, “I don’t know. I’m going to be an amazing person. ”
Noem previously posted a nearly five-minute video promoting a cosmetic dentistry company in Texas. She is being sued by consumer advocacy group Travelers United, accusing Noem of violating Washington, D.C.’s consumer protection law.
Her videos are shot in a commercial style and include close-ups of her teeth, before and after shots of her smile, and shots of the dentist interacting with patients. The group claims Noem’s video was a private advertisement for the dental company Smile Texas.
The complaint alleges that Noem, a potential running mate to former President Trump, is behaving like a social media influencer.
“Unfortunately, Ms. Nomu did not mark this as an ‘ad’ or ‘advertisement’ when she posted it, thereby engaging in unfair and deceptive conduct,” the complaint states.
The lawsuit asks Noem to add advertising labels to future promoted content and to pay undisclosed damages.
