California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has postponed his State of the State address, the governor’s office confirmed to The Hill on Friday night.
Newsom’s speech was originally scheduled for Monday. A new date for the speech has not been announced.
His office is coordinating with the Legislature to determine a new date for the governor’s address, according to an email to The Hill.
The postponement of the speech comes as his effort to overhaul the way California treats mental health-related disorders remains active despite Prop. 1 holding a narrow lead. Ta.Newsom memo says last-minute effort to fix rejected ballots politiko.
A Friday email from Mr. Newsom’s federal PAC, the Campaign for Democracy, obtained by Politico said: “This voting plan is very close and your commitment to volunteering will help get people off the streets and It could mean the difference between getting the treatment you need or not.” “Really. Newsom, who served as the state’s leader for two terms, is facing another recall after losing a recall attempt in 2021. He also has to contend with a record $68 billion budget deficit, making it difficult for the state to buy goods and businesses to hire workers.
