Two innocent bystanders were shot and killed in broad daylight in Tompkins Square Park, police said.
Police said a 26-year-old man was hit in the buttocks and a 53-year-old woman was hit in the right buttock around 12:45 p.m. Saturday. Police officials said the shooting occurred on the park’s west side between the 7th and 9th Avenue entrances.
Emergency crews transported the victims to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, the NYPD said.
Police said gunfire erupted after two men were arguing, and one of them began firing “four or five shots.” Police officers from the 9th Precinct rushed to the scene and found the victim bleeding and stunned.
