Boxer Ryan Garcia threatens to sue NYC commission over alleged ‘mental evaluation’ before fight

Ryan Garcia, the 25-year-old boxer who has recently been in trouble for his disturbing social media posts, is being asked by the New York State Athletic Commission for a “mental evaluation” of him before his bout with Devin Haney. and threatened to sue. April 20th at Barclays Center.

In Garcia’s latest social media rant, he was seen pacing the room telling NYSAC he wanted to go to court.

“I’m going to sue the New York City Commission, why are you saying this?” he began the video series. “They’re trying to put me through a psychiatric evaluation. I said, ‘Okay, what’s your premise?'” [sic] For a psychiatric evaluation? ” “So, your tweets and posts.” I said, “Isn’t it a constitutional right in the United States to have free speech?”So I’m tweeting what I’m tweeting, so that’s the premise [sic] For a psychiatric evaluation? That’s interesting.

“You’re now trying to mess with my constitutional rights. Now I’m going to sue you. I’m actually going to sue you for defamation.”

Garcia added that the committee “won’t test Mike Tyson if he fights in New York, but I will.”

“It seems a little suspicious to me,” he added. “And I love Mike, and Mike loves me.

“I can’t wait for them to ask me to take them to court because I will beat them.”

Boxing officials are calling for the Garcia-Haney bout to be canceled, saying Garcia’s recent actions have made him unfit to fight. And NYSAC has jurisdiction to do so.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told talkSPORT.com that he would “absolutely” consider intervening if the NYSAC tried to block a super lightweight world title fight.

“We are in direct consultation with the New York commission, where the fight will take place, and social media, which is both very good and very bad,” Sulaiman said.

Sulaiman added that he had spoken with Garcia and said: “I believe he is in a position to fight, but we are definitely dealing with the situation.”

Switching gears, Garcia launched into another rant, claiming that he was told by “his therapist” that he should smoke marijuana. He also mentioned that his therapist had also recommended ayahuasca and mushrooms, although he mispronounced it.

These posts on Garcia’s social media have alarmed many and led to multiple deactivations since the beginning of this month. Many boxing fans wonder if he’s in the right frame of mind.

It all started on March 3, when he posted a disturbing video claiming he was dead, scaring fans. After brushing it off, Ms. Garcia spent the next few days discovering that she had been raped by her family when she was two years old, that she had proof that she was an alien, that she had been kidnapped by members of the Bohemian Grove, and that she had been kept under surveillance of her children. She continued to get upset, claiming that she was forced to do so. Pornography as part of a ritual.

Garcia also predicted that a future earthquake would destroy Hollywood and Las Vegas and called billionaire Elon Musk the “Antichrist.” Garcia also made disturbing comments about biting Haney’s ear during a fight, something Tyson infamously did against Evander Holyfield during a 1997 fight.

Garcia said he plans to take a break from social media until his fight with Haney, whom he has fought numerous times at the amateur level.

Garcia is 24-1 with 20 KOs in his boxing career. His one loss was against Gervonta Davis in Las Vegas in February 2023, but he followed that up with a KO of Oscar Duarte.

NYSAC did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
