Florida’s Micah Handlogten suffered a severe leg injury during the Gators’ SEC Championship Game against Auburn on Sunday.
Initial reports indicate a possible fracture in his left leg, and people near the court heard a snapping sound.
The sophomore center had to be carried off the court on a stretcher after being placed in an air cast. He was then sent to the hospital.
The injury occurred while Handlotten was trying to grab a rebound early in the game.
He collapsed immediately and there was blood visible on his leg, a sign that the bone may have broken through the skin.
When Handroten’s mother came down to the court, the Florida team rushed to Handroten’s place on a stretcher.
He left the court to applause from Auburn players and coaches and the crowd at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
Handrogten, who transferred from Marshall, is averaging 5.5 points and 7.1 rebounds this season.
