Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Sunday warned that there would be a “disaster” for the auto industry and the country if former President Trump did not win a second term in the White House. emphasized the dangers of the election.
At a campaign rally in Ohio on Saturday, President Trump called for 100% tariffs on cars made overseas, saying the industry would only be protected if he was president.
“If I don’t get elected, the whole thing is going to be a disaster — it’s not a big deal at least. It’s going to be a disaster for the country,” President Trump said.
His critics were quick to seize on the comment, characterizing it as a call for political violence.
Pelosi, a frequent political opponent of the former president, said the remarks underscored how important Biden’s re-election is to Democrats.
“We just have to win this election because the president is predicting bloodshed,” Pelosi said on CNN’s Dana Bash’s “State of the Union.”
“What does that mean? Is he going to go on a bloodbath? There’s something wrong here. How much I respect the American people and their goodness. But this is what our country is about. How much do they have to see from him to understand that there is no?” Pelosi continued. “You praise Hitler, you praise the Russians, but let’s be honest, you blame our soldiers who lost the war, died in the war, were captured.”
Pelosi urged Americans to consider these issues as they head to the polls in November.
“There’s something wrong here. So I’d just say, please weigh these stocks with the utmost respect in the world for voters and their right to make decisions. How concerned are you about women having the right to choose, or LGBT people having the right to live their lives, that you would vote for him?”
President Trump and his allies criticized media coverage of Saturday’s remarks, saying they were taken out of context.

Former Vice President Mike Pence, who announced on Friday that he would not support President Trump in 2024, said in an interview on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” that “the president clearly believes that imports will destroy the American auto industry.” He said that he was having a positive impact.”
“Crooked Joe Biden and his campaign are making deceptive and out-of-context edits that rival Roman Polanski,” Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Chan said in a statement.
“They are using the judiciary law to go after their main political opponent, President Trump, because he is leading Joe in the polls. “There’s no amount of special drugs you can inject to stop them from doing that or constantly butting themselves,” he added.
