Denver city officials announced Saturday night that two people were found dead in a former hotel used by the city to shelter homeless people.

The male and female victims were found in one of the shelter rooms at the former Double Tree Hotel in Denver’s Central Park neighborhood around 9:20 p.m., Denver police said.

Police did not immediately release further details about the murder investigation, including the manner of death. It is unclear whether the victims were residents.

No arrests have been made and details about the suspect were not immediately available.

“It’s all the city’s responsibility,” said Leon Mickling, who was staying at a nearby hotel. “The city put up the money to house people. The city needs to set aside money to keep everyone safe.” There is,” he said.

The mayor’s office issued a statement to the department saying Johnston was aware of the situation and was cooperating with police to obtain further information.
