A Texas woman has been arrested after telling police she shot and killed her elderly grandmother.

Kelsey Miles, 30, was charged Sunday with one count of murder, according to the Dallas Police Department. She is accused of killing her 80-year-old grandmother, Betty Lou Hahn, in her East Oak Cliff home.

The Grand Prairie Police Department told FOX News Digital that Miles contacted police about the shooting around 5:10 a.m. Sunday morning.

“Mr. Miles actually drove to the Grand Prairie Police Department and met with officers outside in the parking lot to discuss the shooting incident in Dallas,” a department spokesperson said.

“Officers took her into custody, contacted the Dallas Police Department, who responded to our jail, where they took her into custody.”

First responders rushed to the scene of the shooting to assist the victims, the Dallas Police Department said in a press release.

“Officers responded to the call, but as there was no response from the person inside and there was reason to believe that someone may be in need of urgent medical assistance, officers responded to the call. forced entry into the home,” the statement said.

“Once inside, officers found 80-year-old Betty Hahn on the floor and opened fire. Dallas Fire Rescue responded and Hahn died at the scene.”

After his arrest, Miles was transported to the Dallas County Jail. She is being held on $750,000 bail.
