A New York woman was arrested last week on suspicion of brutally dismembering two bodies and scattering their parts across Long Island, days after being released under state bail laws.

Amanda Wallace is one of four people charged with disposing of the body parts of two victims at various parks on Long Island.

On Friday, she was arrested on suspicion of stealing beauty products from a Lindenhurst CVS store, where she is under court-ordered electronic monitoring, Newsday reported. Wallace, 40, of Amityville, has pleaded not guilty to petty theft.

According to police, at 10:50 p.m. Friday, a CVS employee alerted authorities to the suspected theft, and Wallace was taken into custody.

“I got my eyelashes and nail polish done,” Wallace told the officer, according to court documents obtained by the newspaper. “I forgot my money and really didn’t feel like walking home.”

Prosecutors asked Wallace to be held on $10,000 cash bail, telling the judge: “She committed this crime while wearing a GPS monitor, sir.”

Suffolk County Judge James McDonough ordered Wallace held without bail in the body parts case, saying he violated the terms of his previous release. Bail on the petty larceny charge was set at $5,000 cash, $10,000 surety bond, or $50,000 partially secured bond.

“At a minimum, you should be able to go nine days without being rearrested,” McDonough said.

All four defendants were initially released without bail.

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said that under New York’s 2019 reform law, charges that simply involve cutting up and disposing of a corpse are not eligible for bail.
