Former President Donald Trump told ABC News and anchor George Stephanopoulos on Tuesday that a jury found Trump “responsible for the rape” of E. Jean Carroll. He filed a defamation suit in federal court, claiming that his reputation had been damaged by the allegations.
The incident occurred on March 10th while Stephanopoulos was meeting with Representative Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina). “The judge and two juries found him guilty of rape and defamation of the rape victim,” Stephanopoulos said in an interview. How do you reconcile your support for Donald Trump with the testimony we just saw? ”
Neither Stephanopoulos nor ABC News had issued a correction or apology as of Tuesday morning.

Trump’s lawyer Alejandro Brito said in a 20-page complaint that Stephanopoulos made the false statements with “actual malice or reckless disregard for the truth.” hill report.
“In fact, the jury explicitly found that the plaintiff did not commit rape, and as shown below, defendant George Stephanopoulos was aware of the jury’s finding in this regard and yet falsely claimed otherwise. ,” Brito added.
The suit sought unspecified damages.
