Israel Eliminates Senior Hamas Operatives in Rafah, Despite U.S. Opposition

Israel attacked five Hamas leaders on Monday in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, despite public opposition to the Biden administration’s attack on Israel and Washington’s request for prior approval.

As reported by Breitbart News, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters at the White House on Monday that President Joe Biden, who opposes the attack in Rafah, will visit Israel for consultations. He said he has summoned officials to D.C.

Sullivan suggested that the United States, at best, might support limited targeted strikes within Rafah against specific Hamas targets. However, he strongly suggested that such an operation would first require approval of negotiations with the United States.

Nevertheless, on Monday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency (ISA, or “Shin Bet,” or “Shabak”) carried out a secret mission in Rafah, arresting four senior Hamas officials. Killed and injured one person.

In a joint statement, IDF and ISA said:

On Monday, IDF fighter jets acting as intelligence agents for the IDF and ISA eliminated senior Hamas operatives in Rafah who were assisting in local operations as well as establishing continued control by the military wing. .

The attacked operatives were Saeed Khatab al-Qashash, head of Hamas’ emergency department in northern and eastern Rafah, Osama Hamd Zaher, Mohamed Oud al-Meralaki, and operational officer Hadi.・It was Mr. Abu al-Rus Kassin.

The senior operative was a representative of the Hamas leadership in Rafah. As part of their role, they were responsible for managing the terrorist organization’s activities in humanitarian areas and coordinating with Hamas operatives on the ground.

In addition, last week’s strike ousted Hamas’s Rafah emergency chief, Nidal Alayed, who controlled all activities in the region.

All five were confirmed dead except for Mohammad Oud Almeralaki, who the IDF described as “beaten.”

Asked by Breitbart News to comment on the Rafah attack and whether it was cleared with the U.S. or ignored the Biden administration’s objections, Israeli government spokesman David Mensah said Tuesday that Israel always “We will try to cooperate with our good friends, the Americans.” “To make sure we’re all on the same page,” Netanyahu said, stressing that Hamas “has no escape” in Rafah or anywhere else.

Furthermore, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu named On Tuesday, two senior advisers, Strategy Secretary Ron Dermer and National Security Adviser Tsashi Hanegbi, will travel to Washington for talks with the Biden administration. As a former ambassador, Dermer was particularly close to the Trump administration.
