Two of the three juvenile bank robbery suspects in Texas known as the “little thugs” were turned over to police by their parents, and the third was arrested after a fight, authorities said.
The FBI confirmed Tuesday that three young men, ages 11, 12 and 16, are in custody on suspicion of robbery.
Their arrests came after federal authorities released surveillance photos from the Wells Fargo bank robbery in Houston.
The parents of two of the boys immediately came forward and identified the suspect as their son, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
A third “thug” was arrested after he allegedly got into a fight and was recognized by law enforcement officers. KTRK reported.
Investigators later seized a weapon and unspecified characteristic items that were seen in one of the surveillance images.
The three alleged troublemakers first made headlines last Thursday when the FBI in Houston posted on X that they were wanted for bank robbery.
Law enforcement said the boys gave a threatening letter to a Wells Fargo teller and were believed to be unarmed, but they did not display any weapons.
The baby-faced trio are said to have made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Witnesses initially told police the suspect appeared to be between 14 and 18 years old, but it turned out he was actually much younger.
In announcing the boys’ arrests, the FBI said it would not release their names or other details because they are minors.
The newspaper reached out to the local sheriff’s office Wednesday for comment about the incident.
