Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said Wednesday on CNN’s “News Central” that former President Donald Trump has “no value whatsoever” for any religious beliefs.
Anchor John Berman said, “Donald Trump made an opinion about Jews who vote for Democrats. He said they should be ashamed of themselves because they hate their religion.” What do you think about Donald Trump, who is not Jewish, telling Jews how to be Jewish?
Schiff said, “Well, the only person who could make a statement like that is someone who really has no understanding of any religion, any religious group, or any religious beliefs. He is the last person on earth you would never turn to for guidance on what it means to be.”
He added: “It’s a bigoted statement. It’s a stupid statement. It’s all at the same time a given to Donald Trump. But he probably doesn’t understand how serious an attack it is on Jews and doesn’t care. That’s who he is. He’s all about division and hatred, in direct contrast to my own Jewish faith, which is centered around trying to repair and unite the world. And it certainly has nothing to do with Judaism.”
