Judge Orders Release of Transgender Nashville School Shooter’s Journals

A federal judge has ordered the FBI to release the writings of a transgender woman who shot and killed six people at a Nashville Christian school on March 27, 2023.

Hours after the shooting, Breitbart News reported that police identified Audrey Hale as transgender.

Less than a month after the shooting, Breitbart News noted that Hale left behind a suicide note, 19 diaries, and other items, all of which have not been made public since the attack occurred. (The exception was the November 2023 leak of three pages purportedly from the shooter’s writings. Seven Nashville police officers were placed on “leaving” because of the leak.)

But U.S. District Judge Aleta Trauger ordered the documents released.

The FBI is ordered to unilaterally produce all documents that may satisfy defendants’ Freedom of Information Act requests for camera reviews, except that, based on plaintiffs’ concessions in this case, the FBI There is no need to create a document. It cannot be reasonably interpreted as having anything to do with Audrey Hale’s motives.

Her decision came in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the parent company of the Tennessee Star, a local newspaper owned by former Breitbart contributor Michael Patrick Leahy.

Lawyers for the Tennessee Star wrote, “Enough time has passed since the incident that the public can understand why this tragedy happened, how it can prevent future events, and how this and other similar tragedies can be prevented.” There is an urgent right to know what policies should be put in place to address this.” during the public hearing. …”[The] The FBI has no right to maintain a monopoly on this information. ”
