The White House on Friday denounced the Republican Study Committee’s (RSC) budget proposal for supporting legislation that would place severe restrictions on abortion access.
The group, which represents nearly 80% of all House Republicans, has proposed a budget that supports the Life at Conception Act, which protects unborn children. Democrats say the bill threatens access to in vitro fertilization (IVF).

“If House Republicans have their way, all of these proposals would become the law of the land,” the White House outlined in a fact sheet released Friday.

The White House has argued that the RSC budget is a sign that Republicans want a nationwide abortion ban. And he noted that if President Biden is elected to the next term, he wants to restore and codify Roe v. Wade.
The RSC budget was scrapped because former President Trump has threatened to announce a federal ban on abortion if he is re-elected. He also indicated this week that he was considering upholding a 15-week suspension.
The Biden campaign grilled the RSC budget earlier this week as it called for raising the retirement age for people who are not near retirement “to account for increases in life expectancy.”
