Biden, Trump tied in Pennsylvania: Survey

President Biden and former President Trump are tied in Pennsylvania in a hypothetical rematch of the 2020 election. According to a new CNN poll.

According to the poll, 46% of registered voters in the Keystone State said they would support Mr. Trump if the presidential election were held today, and a similar number said they would support Mr. Biden. 6% said they would support someone else, and 22% said they had no intention of voting.

Additionally, polls show that fewer respondents in Pennsylvania approve of the way Biden is handling his job as president. 40% now approve of his performance, down from 43% in October.

The new poll also shows that 40% of Americans have a favorable opinion of Trump, compared to 38% who say the same about Biden.

In the 2020 presidential election, Mr. Biden won Pennsylvania, a reversal from the 2016 election in which Mr. Trump won a key battleground state.

The Hill/Decision Desk headquarters polling average for the 2024 Pennsylvania election between the former and current president currently has Trump at 46.3% and Biden at 41.5%.

Biden gave his first major general election speech in Pennsylvania earlier this year, going after Trump and warning that his re-election would be a risk to American democracy. The speech came nearly three years after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, and Biden claimed he had embraced the extremism that Republicans displayed that day.

“Democracy is on the ballot. Your freedom is on the ballot,” Biden said in his speech.

The new CNN poll was conducted March 13-18 among a sample of 1,132 registered voters in Pennsylvania. The margin of error is 3.8 percentage points.
