Trump slams ‘political hack judge’ in NY civil fraud case, says he has nearly $500M bond amount in cash

Former President Trump has said he has nearly $500 million in cash, suggesting he has the funds to pay bail in a New York civil fraud case on Monday as requested by a judge.

Mr. Trump and his lawyers appealed, seeking to block the $454 million civil fraud judgment. He has until Monday to post his bond.

“Through hard work, talent, and luck, I now have nearly $500 million in cash, a significant amount of which I intended to spend on my presidential campaign,” Trump posted on Truth Social Friday morning. .

“This political hack judge who has been repeatedly overturned in fraudulent and corrupt AG cases knew that I had done nothing wrong and wanted to take it away from me. And that’s where and why he came up with the shocking number: Crazy interest demand of about $454 million.”President Trump presided over the lawsuit against him by New York Attorney General Letitia James. He mentioned New York judge Arthur Engoron.

“I did nothing wrong other than winning an election in 2016 that I wasn’t expected to win, but I did even better in 2020 and had a huge lead in 2024. “I did,” Trump continued. “This is American communism.”

Trump said of Engoron and James: “There is no trial, no jury, no crime, no victim. There is only a crooked judge and a corrupt, Trump-hating attorney general who takes direct orders from the White House.” “An unprecedented level of election interference!!!”

Trump wrote both posts in all caps.

President Trump’s lawyers said Monday that as they approached about 30 surety companies, “through continued and diligent efforts, issuing bond for the full judgment has proven to be ‘practically impossible.’ ” he said.

Lawyers said the “enormous scale” of the bond requirement, effectively requiring cash reserves close to $1 billion, is “unprecedented for a private company.”

James responded by calling Trump’s request to stay “unusual” and “inappropriate.” James said Trump should be able to secure the full amount through multiple guarantors or pledge real estate he owns as collateral.

But President Trump’s lawyer, Clifford S. Roberts, sent a letter Thursday to the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court, arguing that James’ efforts are “unconstitutional.”

Fox News Digital has learned that President Trump and his legal team are considering “all options on the table.”

One source told Fox News Digital that his team intends to “exhaust all options.”

“The Trump team continues to consider all possible options,” the official said, adding, “We hope for the best, but we are also preparing for the worst.”

If the Trump campaign’s appeal is successful, the judgment bond could be significantly reduced. It is unclear whether the court will rule on his appeal.
