A Florida woman is accused of kidnapping her neighbor’s child and locking herself and the child in her apartment, authorities said.
Kim Keeling, 52, is charged with kidnapping and interfering with custody of a child, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

A neighbor, the child’s mother, broke a window in an attempt to reach her daughter.
When deputies arrived on the scene, Keeling ignored his requests to return the child.
Concerned for the child’s safety, the deputy entered through a broken window and found the child and a woman holding a rolling pin in the living room.

Keeling was subsequently arrested on suspicion of kidnapping. She is being held in the Okaloosa County Jail without bail.
The child was not injured in the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.
Keeling told deputies he pulled the infant away from its mother because the mother tried to protect the infant from falling down an outdoor staircase.
