Ohio Senate candidate Bernie Moreno (R) said in an interview Sunday that he expects former President Donald Trump to win a majority of Hispanic voters in November’s general election.
In an interview on FOX News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Maria Bartiromo asked Moreno about recent events. New York Times/Siena College Poll It showed support for Trump among Hispanic American voters over President Biden, with 46 percent supporting Trump and 40 percent supporting Biden. Biden won more Latino voters in the 2020 general election.
“Well, I think those polls are exactly right. I think President Trump is going to win the Hispanic vote,” said Moreno, who won last week’s Ohio Senate Republican primary with Trump’s support.
Moreno, who immigrated from South America as a child, said he thinks Hispanic voters have more confidence in President Trump to handle immigration, and Moreno said he expects that to be reflected in polls in November. He suggested that he was deaf.
“You know, I came here legally from Colombia, South America, where I was born. It’s infuriating to see Biden and Brown reward people who break the laws that come into this country. Plus, “Crime and disorder caused by illegal immigration primarily affects Hispanic communities,” Moreno said, without providing specific evidence.
Moreno continued to criticize Biden, arguing that Biden’s policies are having a negative impact on the situation at the southern border.
“And they’re tired of being mistreated and seeing Biden cause the greatest death toll among Hispanics,” Moreno continued. “The reality is that immigrants trying to cross into the United States from Mexico are being raped and killed. And it’s all a result of Biden’s policies. Hispanics see it for what it is. ”
The Biden campaign has sought to change public perception on immigration policy. Biden and Democrats have pointed to Trump’s role in blocking the bipartisan border bill that Biden supported, calling it “the toughest and fairest border reform in decades.” Biden said at the time that he was supposed to enact the law.
The Biden campaign last week officially launched Latino Fraud Biden-Harris, a national program to engage and mobilize Latino voters ahead of the 2020 election.
“The Latino vote was critical to the president’s victory in 2020, and 2024 will be no different,” campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement announcing the initiative. “The Biden-Harris Latino base is critical to energizing and rallying Latinos across the country, and importantly, this means we are actively investing in winning the Latino vote. This is another way to make your presence known through your actions.”
