City officials said one of the sites in Mexico was noted by the U.S. State Department.

Adams had scheduled a meeting in Mexico with Sister Norma Pimentel, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande, and other leaders to discuss how to address the migrant situation.

He announced a visit to the Texas-Mexico border on Thursday, shortly after large numbers of migrants stormed the border wall in El Paso, Texas.

Adams initially issued a statement on his radio show about his trip to meet with immigration officials from various countries. However, it is currently unclear which cities are at risk.

The full statement from City Hall reads:

“Since spring 2022, more than 184,000 migrants have come to our cities seeking care, and already more than 120,000 people have taken the next step towards self-sufficiency thanks to our hard work. Finding solutions to national problems requires cooperation between nations. This was to be the second trip of its kind to the Lone Star State, a jaunt south, since the immigration crisis began two years ago.

Additionally, City Hall’s latest effort would have been to put pressure on the Biden administration to take action by drawing national attention to the financial strain that the influx of immigrants is placing on New York City.

Adams last canceled a trip in November, shortly after learning that the FBI had raided the Brooklyn home of his main fundraiser as part of an ongoing investigation into the 2021 mayoral race. was.
