Priscilla Presley recalls Elvis’ ‘vulgar’ first impression on her: ‘’Boy, who was this guy?’

Priscilla Presley is reflecting on the good and bad times with her husband Elvis Presley.

At the actress’ event titled “An Evening with Priscilla Presley” at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Conn., on Saturday, she spoke at length about the rock ‘n’ roll icon’s possible extramarital affair.

“Obviously I know there are other things going on, whether he’s going on tour or going to Palm Springs or Las Vegas,” Presley said, People reported.

Presley said she found a letter in the couple’s mailbox from someone saying they had “the best time” with her husband during the trip.

“When I found that letter, it really broke my heart,” she said. “She just couldn’t forgive, so she called Elvis in Las Vegas. [road manager] Joe Esposito answered the phone, and I said, “Joe, I want to talk to Elvis. Please.” He said, “He’s sleeping, what do you need?” OK? ‘I said, ‘No, it’s not that.’ I really want to talk to him about something. ”

After she explained to Esposito that she had found the letter, Elvis called her and asked her if she had been “peeping” on him, which she denied, pointing to the fact that the letter had arrived in her mailbox.

“That was the beginning,” she said of the difficulties in their relationship. “He wasn’t happy about it, but I wasn’t happy about it either. So I realized things were still going on. Listen, he and his buddies four or five People were always together, I mean, they’re men, right?? And they were all married, and they were all goofing around.”

She went on to say that “there was always an opportunity” for Elvis to tour.

Priscilla Presley didn’t remarry after Elvis because ‘no one could match him’

One particular woman’s name came up in Presley’s conversation: actress Anita Wood. According to People magazine, Wood and Elvis dated before he served in the military and was stationed in Germany, where they met when Presley was 14 years old.

Ms Presley said she was “hurt” when she found “a stack of letters” from Mr Wood.

“God, is this still going on and what am I doing here? So I asked Elvis about her and he said how did I know about her? and I answered nicely, “Hello, I can read.” And he said, she really is a good friend of hers and said, “Yes, I care about her, but I realized that I don’t love her.” I was worried about Anita because I was like, ‘Okay, that’s a lot of letters,'” the “Naked Gun” star said.

she continued. “I thought that when he returned to America, he would see her again. And he was in the paper, so they must have met. She was there waiting for him. That made me very It’s bothering me.”

During the interview, Presley also shared his first impressions of the “Heartbreak Hotel” singer.

She recalled being told not to watch him on TV because he was “vulgar and disgusting,” but she sneaked a peek through “the crack in the door” to see him appear on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” I was watching.

This “vulgar” depiction resurfaced in a different context when Elvis saw a photo in a magazine of him signing an autograph on a fan’s chest.

“When she opened the magazine, Elvis had signed a woman’s chest. So I was so disgusted,” said the 78-year-old. “I thought, ‘How awful, so vile, unbelievable.'”

Presley and Elvis married in 1967 and welcomed their only child, daughter Lisa Marie, in 1968. The two divorced in 1973, and Elvis died in 1977.

Sadly, Lisa Marie passed away in 2023 at the age of 54 from a small bowel obstruction, a complication resulting from bariatric surgery she underwent several years ago.
