LSU Tigers women’s basketball star Angel Reese waved at one of the Middle Tennessee State players in the round of 32 of the tournament before fouling out in the third quarter and saying goodbye.

Reese continued to battle the powerhouses of Middle Tennessee throughout the game. Then, with 59 seconds left, Anastasia Bordyreva was ejected for a foul.

ESPN broadcasts saw Reese waving goodbye as he returned to the bench. Boldyreva played 16 minutes in this match and scored 9 points. LSU was up by only six points at this point, but the game seemed to be turning around.

LSU won the game 83-56, but Reese’s actions gained attention on social media.

“I don’t think it’s an Angel to be an 11th seed and wave while winning 6 games, let alone flop,” one fan wrote on X.

Another fan wrote: “Angel Reese waving bye-bye when an opponent fouls out. You don’t need to look any further to say she has no integrity. And her coach is okay with it. ” he added to the X with a clown emoji.

But Reese’s fans defended her.

One of Reese’s fans wrote, “I love how Angel Reese knows everyone is going to say bad things about her but still does whatever she wants.” “She’s the real deal, and you guys can’t resist it.”

Another added that they would like to see more trash talk in the sports world and that there is nothing wrong with Reese’s energy.

Reese faced similar scrutiny during last year’s national championship game against Iowa, when she hurled some of her own nonsense back at Caitlin Clark. LSU defeated Iowa State to win the national title.

She finished the game with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Her point total was just shy of tying Frauge Johnson for the most in a game.

The Tigers will play the winner of UCLA and Creighton in the Sweet 16. If Iowa gets past West Virginia and then Colorado, the Hawkeyes and Tigers could meet in the regional final.
