NYC shootings 20 minutes apart leave three dead

Three New Yorkers were shot and killed, including two teenagers, in two separate shootings in the Big Apple on Sunday night, authorities said.

Two victims, including an 18-year-old woman, were fatally shot in Harlem, and about 20 minutes later a 17-year-old boy was shot to death in Brooklyn, police said.

Police arrived at the scene of the first shooting around 7:27 p.m. near East 128th Street and Lexington Avenue, where they found 18-year-old Ashley Ballard, who was shot in the back and head, and 25-year-old, who was shot in the head. The two were rushed to Harlem Hospital, where Ballard, an East Harlem resident, was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m.

Police said Mendoza, an Upper Manhattan resident, was initially listed in critical condition but succumbed to his wounds around 10 p.m.

It is unclear what kind of relationship existed between the two Manhattan victims or whether they were the intended targets.

According to the NYPD, 17-year-old Brian Enriquez was struck by gunfire in the neck and torso near 256 East 37th Street in Brooklyn around 7:45 p.m.

The Flatbush resident was transported by EMS to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A motive for either shooting was not immediately known as the investigation is ongoing.

No arrests have been made.
