Canada Mayor Tells PM Trudeau to ‘Step Aside’ for ‘Hindering our Battle Against Antisemitism’

The leader of the Canadian town of Hampstead has told Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to resign because it will not help stem the tide of rising anti-Semitism in the country.

Mayor Jeremy Levi leads Quebec’s small, close-knit community. He revealed his thoughts on X (formerly known as Twitter) and said: You have become a hindrance in the fight against anti-Semitism. Please step aside. ”

This is in direct response to Trudeau’s own claims that he is part of the country’s persecuted Jewish community.

This is not the first time that the city of Levi and this township (an English-speaking municipality with a population of 8,000 people, about 75% of whom identified as Jewish in the last census in 2021) have been the focus of the fight against anti-Semitism. do not have.

As Breitbart News reported, anti-Semitic incidents hit the Montreal area last November in the wake of Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel.

Two Jewish schools in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges district were targeted by gunfire overnight (twice in one incident), and a few days earlier a synagogue in the suburb of Dalard-des-Ormeaux was bombed with an incendiary bomb. It was done.

Shortly after, an anti-Semitic mob targeted a pro-Israel event at Montreal’s Holocaust Museum, with the crowd chanting “Death to Israel!” Death to the Jews! ” said Jewish community leaders.

Local Rabbi Moishe New said at the time that it was “alarming” to see such aggressive behavior in Canada. “We didn’t expect that.”

Montreal police counted more anti-Semitic acts last November than in all of 2022.

The same trend has been observed elsewhere in the world, including some European countries.

“I’ve never seen this level of anti-Semitism in Montreal,” Levi said.

“It’s unfortunate,” he said, “and nothing is being done about it.”

“The time for words is over. We need to take action before things get out of control,” Levi added, criticizing weak statements against anti-Semitism by politicians and increased police presence. He said it was below.

The evidence shows that nothing has changed in all this time, and that distrust of Prime Minister Trudeau continues to grow unabated.
