Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy’s TGL league unveils part of 2025 schedule, new steel facility

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL league didn’t get off to a good start, and in fact, it was a slump.

However, the new league, which was postponed for a year due to the dome collapse, will officially open on January 7, 2025, the first Tuesday of this year.

ESPN will televise the league’s first game, which will be held two days after the end of the NFL regular season.

A week later, ESPN is scheduled to air the second TGL game on January 14, 2025, the day after Worldwide Leader in Sports aired the NFL playoff game on Monday night.

And on January 21, 2025, the night after College Football’s National Championship Game, ESPN will televise the third game of the TGL season. The remaining 15-game schedule will be announced later this year.

“We plan to launch TGL, powered by SoFi, in 2025, introducing sports fans to this new form of team golf,” said Mike McCurry, founder and CEO of TMRW Sports. We decided to circle the first three Tuesdays of January to do so.” in a statement.

“January is a great time of year for fans looking for prime-time sports, and the launch of TGL will complement the start of the PGA Tour season.”

The PGA Tour typically begins its season with the Sentry and Sony Open in Hawaii during the first two weeks of January. However, everything could change in 2025, depending on whether a possible agreement with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) changes the structure of the tour.

But if these two events remain on next year’s golf calendar, which is the most likely scenario, it could create travel troubles for some players.

The Sentry is scheduled to end on Sunday, January 5th, meaning some TGL players will have to fly from Maui back to South Florida for the first game two days later.

TGL will host the event at the newly updated SoFi Center, a steel-supported structure on the campus of Palm Beach State University in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Details about SoFi Center’s intricacies are below.

The SoFi Center is an unprecedented, technology-enabled golf arena that offers fans an intimate and unique “greenside” experience with 1,500 seats surrounding TGL’s playing field. It’s about the same size as a football field at 97 yards long. The width is 50 yards.

TGL matches feature teams playing in a custom-designed virtual hole projected onto a 3,000-square-foot screen (64 feet x 46 feet), which is more than 20 times larger than a standard golf simulator screen (144 feet). Start by teeing off from a real grass tee box. square feet, 16 feet x 9 feet).

Once teams get within about 50 yards, they transition to live action and finish each hole within the green zone at TGL, a 22,475-square-foot short game complex that moves between holes.
