ABC News anchor Jonathan Kahl asked Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) about his chances of being chosen as Donald Trump’s running mate on Sunday, and got more than he expected.
Last Thursday, Rubio Said Karl said it was an “honour” to serve as Trump’s vice president, a comment he didn’t understand.
“Really?” he asked Rubio.
Rubio explained that he believes “anyone who is offered the opportunity to serve this country as vice president should be honored to have that opportunity.” For those who love their country, that’s a standard and reasonable answer. Nevertheless, Karl was perplexed by Rubio taking the job — because of Jan. 6, of course.
“The reason I asked is, I mean, look what happened to the last guy,” Carl said. “So a mob stormed the Capitol and literally called for Mike Pence to be hanged.”
But Mr. Rubio was reluctant to engage in the media’s petty political games, reminding Mr. Kahl that America under President Joe Biden is very different from the America under Trump.
“When Donald Trump was president of the United States, this country was safer. It was more prosperous,” he said. “I think the country and the world were in a better place when he was president, and I would love to see him return to the White House compared to Joe Biden, who is now in an economic disaster.” think.
“Look at the world. Every day we wake up to a new crisis, a new conflict,” he continued. “Everything has flared up since Joe Biden took over. Afghanistan has collapsed. Ukraine has been invaded. Now the Philippines and China are on the verge of something bad happening every day. Not to mention the threat to Taiwan. “And the Haiti explosion is happening in our hemisphere. Every day we wake up and there’s a terrorist attack and 9 million people are crossing the border. That’s what matters to me. .”
Karl stammered and became defensive at Trump’s strong defense.
“But, but, but, you’re, but, I mean, you’re not saying that everything is happening because of Biden and everything else?” the ABC News anchor followed up.
“Absolutely,” Rubio admitted.
“But–well, let me–” Karl stammered again.
“Make no mistake, I would suggest that it’s happening because of Biden. He’s the president and his weakness and his –” Rubio acknowledged.
“Did Russia invade Ukraine because of Biden?” Karl followed.
“Of course,” Rubio said again. “So Putin is sitting there saying, ‘These guys can’t even stand up to the Taliban, we have to fly these people hanging on the wings of planes. Now is the time.'”
For some reason, Karl felt the need to continue bashing Trump. He claimed the former president wanted a deal in the Ukraine war that would “effectively give Putin what he wants in Ukraine.” But Rubio quickly debunked that statement.
“That’s not true,” Rubio said. “What he said is that he wants to end the conflict, but what’s shocking to me is why don’t people want peace?”
But Karl didn’t answer that question. Instead, he moved the interview to a completely different topic.
