Would comedy icon Jerry Seinfeld have been funnier if he had grown up somewhere other than Long Island?
“That’s right,” Seinfeld said in the trailer for his 2017 Netflix special, “The Jerry Before Seinfeld.” But, he added, “this is something I’ve had to work on.”
Now, his childhood home in Massapequa has gone under contract. A modest three-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom home at 50 Eastgate Road was priced at $549,999. The final sale price and the identity of the soon-to-be owner are not yet known.

Seinfeld wasn’t the only celebrity to grow up in Massapequa at the time. This is also the home of Alec Baldwin and his brothers, Ron his Kovic in Born on Independence Day, Dee Snyder in Twisted Sister.
Seinfeld, 69, lived in a modest mansion until he was eight years old. Even though he raised his children on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Seinfeld still uses his Massapequa days as inspiration for his comedy.
The sellers’ home also contained a letter from Seinfeld stating that he had indeed lived there decades earlier.
This two-story home was built in 1956 and sits on approximately 10 acres. The home is decorated with vinyl siding and has a fenced backyard with a deck, according to listing information.
Inside there is an eat-in kitchen, dining area and living room with vaulted ceilings. There is a large study in the basement.
The listing broker is Russ Bonanno of Bon Anno Real Estate. The buyer is represented by Irene Siconolfi of Douglas Elliman.
