U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials on Monday re-searched vehicles entering the United States at the Eagle Pass, Texas, port of entry, finding $1.1 million worth of methamphetamine hidden in the vehicles’ quarter panels. discovered. vehicle.

CBP said in a press release that Eagle Pass Port of Entry officers seized 120 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, valued at $1,104,419, in one raid.

“CBP officers did an exceptional job interdicting these illegal narcotics at our ports of entry,” said Port Commissioner Pete Beatty. “These seizures will help keep dangerous drugs out of our communities, which in turn deprives criminal organizations of the revenue they earn from their sales.”

The drugs were seized at the Camino Real International Bridge on March 25 after CBP officers conducted secondary checks on Mexican nationals driving through the port.

CBP officers seized $1.1 million worth of methamphetamine from the vehicle’s quarter panel.

Officers conducted a non-intrusive search of the vehicle with a dog and allegedly found 120.11 pounds of methamphetamine in the quarter panel of the vehicle.

The drugs were reportedly seized and one passenger was arrested before Homeland Security investigators turned the case over for further investigation.

The drug seizure comes more than a week after Southern California police officers discovered drugs hidden in Carrot’s luggage and seized nearly 3,000 pounds of methamphetamine worth millions of dollars.

The arrest occurred at an Otay Mesa commercial complex near San Diego, California.

Since fiscal year 2024 began in October, CBP has seized more than 49,000 pounds of methamphetamine. In all of fiscal year 2023, Border Patrol agents seized approximately 140,000 pounds of meth.
