Leonel Moreno went viral after posting a video in which he tells potential illegal immigrants that they can use squatter’s rights laws to take over vacant homes in the United States.

ICE confirmed to Fox News that Moreno entered the United States illegally in April 2022 and was released under a program in which he was ordered to turn himself in within 60 days. He failed to do so and became a fugitive.

“Moreno was arrested in Gahanna, Ohio by officers from ERO Detroit’s Columbus office and is currently being held pending further immigration proceedings,” ICE said in a statement to the New York Post.

The 27-year-old had recorded the video on social media from Columbus, Ohio, where he lived with his girlfriend and her child. He claims he has not worked a day since coming to the United States and said his family receives $350 a month in aid from the federal government.

Moreno’s TikTok account has been suspended. He had amassed more than 500,000 followers on the short video platform.

“I don’t like working,” Moreno said in the video. according to To Newsweek. “Folks, in America he has a million tricks and he has a million things to do.”

In another video, he said he was able to earn $1,000 a day begging.

“You’re hurting, you know, because you’re working like a slave and I’m making more money than you without having to work as much, you know?” Moreno said, as recorded by the Post. He said this in the video. “That’s the difference between you and me. I’m always going to make a lot of money without working much, but you’re always going to be exploited, miserable and insignificant.”

Moreno lamented that his TikTok account had been suspended, but said he would continue to make money from his Instagram and Facebook accounts. He has a much smaller number of followers on Instagram, around 17,000.

He also made headlines in February when he asked his followers to donate money to financially support a 15-year-old immigrant accused of fatally shooting a 37-year-old woman while firing at a security guard in Times Square. .

“Because today it could be him, tomorrow it could be you. Remember, life is a boomerang,” he said. Said at that time. “He did something bad. That’s okay, but you could hit people or cause an accident. You could go through some tough times where they criticize you.”
