Thieves cut hole in wall to steal $1 million worth of jewelry from NJ store

Devious thieves robbed a New Jersey store worth $1 million in jewelry by cutting a hole in the wall of an adjacent store and using a torch to open the safe, police said.

The Toms River Police Department responded at 10 a.m. Thursday to a report of a robbery and theft at Venzio Jewelers at Ocean County Mall. the police said.

Business representatives told police that someone broke into the store to rob the store between 8pm and 10am on Wednesday.

The suspects cut a hole in the wall of an adjacent vacant store and entered the back office of the store. They are believed to have cut telephone lines and alarm cables and used a torch to break into the safe.

Police say about $1 million worth of jewelry was taken.

It’s unclear how the thieves first got into the mall, which closes at 9 p.m.

Toms River Police Chief Mitchell Little told the Post there were no updates on the investigation as of Friday night.
